Three trips to Main's northernmost coastline gives us this rich photographic haul. Blue was working on a documentary on music executive Bill Kitchen, who quit Manhattan's hurly-burly schedules to become the lighthouse keeper on the the island of Little River a few miles south of Canada. Newark, New Jersey provides a glimpse into Alan Weisman's scenario, "The World Without Us," which details the rapid and simple deterioration of civil structures when people no longer maintain them. How long would it take for Manhattan to rust away, or for Los Angeles to sink into the Earth? Not many lifetimes. The strip above shows a huge neighborhood abandoned in less than a decade, minutes away from the busy international airport at exit 13 on the Turnpike. If this can happen in this location, what is happening to factories and warehouses in places people are not near?
