It comes from a faraway place to measure our water and air, and finds beauty. Disguised to attract knowledge but not attention, the Visitor hides itself as a woman adrift, searching for meaning and insight. But her mission is a lonely one, without love or intimacy, ages away from her own bonds and customs, and among the measurements of toxins and oxygen and hydrogen the Visitor has time to experiment in its new environment: as her time ticks away, the woman from far away finds comfort in beauty and a strange pleasure in risk.
