Opening song from the musical by SETH FLYNN, SANDRA BISHOP & SEANIE BLUE
In Dundee, Scotland, a young girl moves through a city of whaling and burlap industries, flirting with an older man whose reading and eloquence made a deep impression on her. News of whaling adventures in the Atlantic and Arctic came via the port, and the teenage Mary Godwin let them all sink in to become some of the astonishing scenes in her masterful ‘Frankenstein,’ written in 1816 when Mary was just 18. The book didn’t sell, Mary remained obscure except as the wife of the eccentric poet Percy Shelley, and it took a century for the new technology of cinema to unearth Mary’s fabulous morality play, a story now acknowledged as the birth of science fiction. This song was written during the pandemic at the Wonder 101 studio, and mixed with additional instrumentation by Ariel Francis.
