Naked Babes Save the Planet

Blue moved to Laurel Canyon in 2004 for two reasons: to take over the idyllic once-in-a-lifetime house at the top of Ridgemont Drive, where he could be the highest resident of Los Angeles, and to bring his writings to the entertainment industry. But it was photography and movie-making that brought him an unexpected stream of starlets and B-movie queens anxious to prove their intelligence and courage. Within three years, models and actresses of all stripes were ringing at the gate, and Blue fled to the comparative sanities of the East Coast. "I knew it was out of control when the porn companies started calling to ask about my rates," says Blue, "And I realized there is a lot to be said for nudity and cheap sensuality, but poetry is not found there and that's what I am looking for, always." This gallery is a collection of shots of some of the models and actors who posed nude for Blue then, and who continue to pose for him now in Barcelona or San Francisco or Manhattan.

Brendan Bikko is a woman in flames. Her impulse is to bolt to the destination, if she believes it exists, and if she respects my words enough to undertake the voyage. The ride is thrilling, laced with a multidimensional torque; rocket, or feel free to throttle back and cruise into gentle nuance and brittle subtlety, the holy grail of drama, where the reader or spectator suspends existence to look for more in the story than the story wishes to reveal. She makes my every careful poem a launching.

Can the model provide more than a stock or branded image? Every image of Christie Brinkley is Christie Brinkley. Every image of Cindy Crawford is Cindy Crawford. But Monica Belluci? Angelina Jolie? Emanuelle Beart? These women inhabit skins as well as images, and seem to me fully rounded and deeply flawed human beings. Interesting characters. As Brendan follows my directions at physical play, she shows me several people, one of whom actually travelled away from home to study acting for two years in the big city. I cannot believe my luck. Searching for a model, I fall onto an actress? This happens in Hollywood, of course, more rarely than one would think. But it doesn't happen in my Hollywood.
